• Privacy Policy

I am Sarah Jane Butler. I operate the website www.sarahjanebutlerauthor.co.uk and one or more email newsletters. This page is to inform you of my policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information. I hold your personal information securely and in compliance with the law. I will respond promptly to any queries regarding your data. I will not pass your data to any third party without your consent [1].

Relationship between the newsletters and the site

I rely on the ‘consent’ provisions of the GDPR regulation. In plain English this means:

I only add, for example, name and contact details to the newsletter mailing list when you expressly ask me to.

I only retain, for example, names and contact details for other occasional updates when you expressly ask me to.

You may unsubscribe from the newsletter or tell me to remove your information from any other listing, at any time.

You accept that I am not obliged to provide any service to you and I may delete you from any list or such service at any time, with or without giving a reason.

    Use of data

Where I have consent to do so, I will alert you to my writing, publications, books of interest to me, and other matters I hope you will be interested in. I may ask for your opinions or assistance, privately by email. I may contact you by email to move an existing discussion off-line. You may withdraw your consent for me to email you directly at any time while remaining on the newsletter list.

    Log Data

I may save the information that your browser sends whenever you visit the site (“Log Data”).

This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s IP address, browser type, browser version, the pages that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics.

    Cookies

Cookies are files with small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a website and stored on your computer’s hard drive.

The website may use cookies to collect information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, it’s possible that you won’t be able to use some portions of the site (although I can’t think of any offhand).

    Changes To This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is effective as of 29 July 2022 and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in its provisions in the future, which will be in effect immediately after being posted on this page. I will publicise major changes. Your continued use of the Service after I post any modifications to the Privacy Policy on this page will constitute your acknowledgment of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy.

    Contact

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact me.

[1] I may have to share your data if required by law. If I have fears for your safety or that of another person, or if you make threats or use hate speech against me or anyone, I reserve the right to share your data with appropriate authorities (which would be a legal use of the data). I use third party services in good faith that they seek to abide by the law.
